chickchock
Hi everyone Been scouring ebay for a 2nd hand eglu classic, they seem very expensive at the moment, I'm hoping the price will come down when the autumn comes. Anyway there is one near me but it is an older one with wooden roosting bars, I'd rather have plastic. Does anyone know if the spare plastic bars you can buy would fit in the older Eglu, I'm wondering if I could just swap them??
Purplemaniacs
If it is a Mark 1 eglu you can't get plastic bars for it. If it is a Mark 2 you can. The bars of a Mark 2 are in two sections where as the Mark 1 are in at least 3, maybe more (not sure) pieces. The Mark 1 door into the run is smaller too. chickchock
Thanks! Sorry if this is a daft question but is there an easy way of telling if it's a Mark 1 or a Mark 2? If you don't have a newer one to compare it with, I mean.
ohcarolina
PM me with an email address and I can send you some pics and some more information. Caroline
Purplemaniacs
The door is smaller and the roosting bars are different. You have a rectangular one and then in the Mark 2s you have one that is more or less square that goes by the door, in the Mark 1 this is not in one piece. Wooden bars would not put me off of buying a Mark 1, I used wooden bars in my Mark 2 for ages and still have them in one of them sometimes. If you have two sets life is easier and if you know someone who is good with wood I would think it would be a simple job to make some more. chickchock
Thanks again. The listing doesn't show a pic of the door or the bars. I have asked and she says she's not sure but she assumes it's a Mark 2 because it's only 3 years old, does anyone know if that fits with the time the Mark 2 was released? chickchock
thank you - i am pretty sure it is a mark 2 - here is the listing, what do you think? the door, viewed from the inside, does seem bigger doesn't it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221269110093?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Egluntyne
Going by the view of the egg port, that's a Mark 2. You have to be certain that the photos are of the item listed, and not lifted from elsewhere. There is a 'sticky' at the top of this section discussing roosting bars. An article linked within it , done by me yonks ago demonstrated the difference, but unfortunately, some of the pics have vanished. However, the remaining pic is that of a Mark 1. The Dogmother
That's a Classic (mark 2) but it's one of the first Classics produced as it is still the older version of that green - the later colour was more olive than pea green. Details here of how to tell the difference.

Purplemaniacs
In the picture I can't see the pull out poo tray. I think I might ask for some more pictures. Chrissie
The Dogmother
I would, they haven't got everything in the shots, and you want to be sure of what you're buying. The Classic is a good sturdy product (mine is ages old) and built to last. the plastic they use is much better than that used for the Go.
