Charlottechicken
I can't find a thread, so is anyone else watching this year? Those pastries looked delicious!
Eggasperated
I'm loving every minute of it . I had a go at the Apricot Couronne, from last weeks technical challenge, at the weekend. Although I got the shaping a bit wrong it was absolutely delicious and I shall definitely be making it again. This week made me want to make suet puddings again, but the puff pastry challenge was too tight for time, I've never made mille feuille and this put me right off . redbug
Yes I'm watching it, love suet pudding but I use the vegetarian suet. Also I buy the ready made pastry, saves all that rolling out.
craftyhunnypie
Was sad to see Glen go. I thought he was quite good at ' giving things a go'. Bless him! It reminded me that I have some cream horn coney mould thingys. I feel a pack of puff from the supermarket fridge slipping into my trolley. It also made me want to make some choux. I have a special tin for choc eclairs, but I think I'll give some of those nuns a go. They looked yummy. I'd like Ruby to win. chickencam
I was sad to see Glen go too, but I think that it was his time, he is lovely like a big cuddly twinkly bear. I would like to see Becka win I think, she seems like a great family cook, and she knows her own mind. I also like Christine, but she isn't that consistent. I didn't like the way that Ruby said that she can't cook only bake, seems a bit of closed minded attitude.

Chucky Mama
I am now hooked on making custard tarts No soggy bottoms here
Eggasperated
Chucky Mama I was going to make some custard tarts from the new Bake Off book but Paul Hollywood's recipe uses 7 egg yolks for 12 tarts and even I can't eat that many meringues . Is yours a different recipe? Or what do you do with all the whites? I love custard tarts
Lavenders_Blue
Freeze the whites. 3-4 whites is a good amount for pavlova so halve the 7 whites into two batches and freeze ready for meringues.

The pastry is very good and I have now used it a number of times. The only thing that I did differently was that for the pastry glaze I used some of the beaten egg and sugar mix intended for the custard to brush the base of the cooked pastry case. It saves having to waste an egg. It worked perfectly
Egzandra
I was so sorry to see that Becca went this week. I was hoping she would win. So sorry to see them weeping at the end of the previous one, especially Frances who always seems so upbeat. Thought that Sue and Mel were very funny this week. chickencam
I was sad to see Becca go, I was hoping that it would be Ruby. I am not keen on Ruby and her petulant nature, but I am sad to see all of the horrible things online and in the press about her. She is very young and lacking in self confidence, people can be cruel. I think that Kimberly will probably win, her technical challenge this week was excellent. She can be a little smug though, she seems to be the antithesis of Ruby. Charlottechicken
Mel and Sue are hilarious! I was also hoping that Ruby would go, I don't dislike her, just like the other three more.

Egluntyne
Kimberley is the one for me. She is talented, unfussy, and pleasant. Ruby I want to slap and the other one is all style and not much substance. Looks like PH might be grovelling back to his Mrs too. It sells books I suppose. redbug
Just watched GBBO on i player. I think M and P had a downer on Becka throughout the show. I also think Ruby's efforts where very very messy and did not look good. Sorry to see Becka go! I hope either Francis or Kimberly win. Would be a farce if Ruby won

I also think Ruby's efforts where very very messy and did not look good. Sorry to see Becka go! I hope either Francis or Kimberly win. Would be a farce if Ruby won I completely agree, particularly re Paul having a downer on Becka, he was quite cruel at times. I think he is quite unnecessarily harsh with Francis too. Mercedes55
We are a week behind on the series for some reason so not up to speed on who is left in it. I'm not sure who I want to win, I do agree Ruby is very petulant but then again Kimberly is a bit smug
