Have never tried the pellets with 'built in' wormer before - but at this price thought I'd have a go!

I ordered some, having never used the pellets (or this company) before.

Delivery was very quick; postage was reasonable and the hens are only 'medium' annoyed at being incarcerated without treats

I have just received mine, I didn't realise the shelf life would be SO short! They are best before 22/12/13. ..... Better get a wriggle on;) no treats for you girls for the next week

I spoke to a representative of the company - they call to check because of the legal status of flubenvet and we had quite a chat

Anyway, he said that they very much err on the side of caution with the use by date. He explained that the steaming process of putting the medication in the food is what dramatically shortens its shelf life plus the fact that it's not airtight. He said if you keep the product somewhere very dry and not too cold (or warm) you could happily use the product a few weeks (or much more, but he couldn't 'officially' recommend that) later

It didn't really affect me cos my girls were overdue a worming (and they have indeed laid more eggs since being 'done') but might be useful for someone else

I know they cannot have treats while worming but what about free ranging and all that grass?

Mine arrived yesterday the girls are not best pleased, but they are all looking fully feathered and healthy, so they are being wormed now!

It is advised to keep them in the run and avoid free ranging as much as possible during that week. If this bothers you, then at least keep them in for the morning, which is when they eat the most.

That's great thanks as always, I have avoided all eye contact with them as I feel so bad that I can't give them the odd grape and I only ever let them free range in the afternoon as at the moment but the weather is so bad they can stay in the run.
