craftyhunnypie
Hiya - as many of you know, I started slimming world just over 2 weeks ago. Everything has been going really well, but under my chin swelled up one day and really hurt & I now have quite a few painful lumps on my face, like very large chickenpox & they are all in one area like a sort of ring on the left hand side of my face, on my jaw bone. They are very painful. Could this be due to the change in diet & the toxins coming out of my body? Bear in mind, I used to eat a lot of bad things before & a lot of chocolate! I am not having hardly any sugar now, apart from natural sugars found n fruit! I just don't know what it could be otherwise. It can't be chickenpox, I had those when I was young. I did wonder if it was a type of shingles? As one lump appeared on my belly last night? I am just puting it down to sudden change in diet. Guest
It most likely is the sudden change in your diet - count yourself lucky that it's just plooky skin - when chookiehubbie tries to improve his diet, the toxins manifest themselves into rampant gout! If it gets worse, or doesn't improve by Monday though, you'd be best to get it checked by your doctor!
chocchick
I'm no medical expert, I would probably see if it got better over the next 24 hours and what people on here say. You could try ringing NHS direct although they always tell you to see a doctor. I'm not sure toxins would do that. Maybe a reaction to a new food? You haven't started on any new medication, beauty products or had an allergic reaction to something? Only other things I thought of are bites. I'm sorry it must be really rotten, especially when you're trying to lose weight and doing so well.
sparkleeeeee
there are alot of biting insects around because of the weather, my little girl and i were both bitten the night before last. she has quite a few on one side of her face and i have about six on my shoulder, all on one place. they do hurt alot and are not really itchy. i did read somewhere that the more fruit and veg you eat the tasier you are for mozzies, i dont know if thats true. but it is an excuse to have a bar of chocolate instead of an apple
craftyhunnypie
Hmm - I wonder if they are mozzie bites? Only because my neighbour mentioned that there are loads of mozzies about this year & when I went my sisters on Wednesday night there were loads of midgies & flies buzzing round the light in her hallway when she opened the door. They don't itch, they just feel tender & the skin around them sort of feels numb / achy. Yeah they could well be bites! Have to plaster on the tiger balm next time I go out - it's excellent for repelling mozzies, but makes you smell like a medicine cabinet!!! Thanks everyone for the replies. xChicken04x
My mum recomends green tea as it gets rid of all the nasty toxins, its kind of strange at first but you get used to it! good luck xx
sparkleeeeee
.....oh... i love green tea....., i have a cup first thing every morning. i love the plain old clipper green tea. not that keen on the lemon twist, mint etc. the first cup will taste weird and you will feel funny, sort of energised afterwards (unless it was just me ) but then it becomes a must have in the morning. i dont really drink alot of coffee or regular tea because i used to drink loads at uni and developed the shakes , so i gave it up for a couple of years. now i have green tea and a couple of regular teas in the day. and when i have been breastfeeding or pregnant i have only had one cup of green tea in the morning and water the rest of the day (how boring am i?) my grandmother -in-law tried it and put milk in it (yuck!!) but then she did the same with raspberry tea and said 'i cant get on with those herbal teas they dont taste very nice'

Cinnamon
As someone whose face swelled up to unrecognisable proportions after a mozzie bite in Kos a couple of months ago,I sympathise (Look at my Blog - theres a photo if you fancy a laugh!) All I can say is keep out of the sun, drink plenty of water & see how it is in 24 hours. If its no better I think a trip to the Doctors might be called for. I don't think its shingles. My youngest girl gets that & its a flat red rash that is mainly on the back or trunk
susiepoos
I agree - I think it's more likely to be an insect bite and certainly there seems to be more mossies about this year. It's unlikey to be shingles if you've got the same lump on your tummy as my understanding is that shingles only affects one nerve pathway at a time and if it does affect two they are next to each other. I suggest you try a walk in centre or just keep germolene on them - it's got mild anaesthetic properties to help with the pain - and brufen to help the inflammation until you can get to your doctor tomorrow. Poor you Good luck with the diet.
