Chickabee
I've not been very attentive lately, due to my broken arm. Let some of the girls FR. Dazzle (pekin frizzle) was walking funny, she had mud balls on both feet. Thought I'd best check them all. Fifi (white silkie) had them too. Chased them both round the garden managed to catch them and one at a time gently bathe their toes, covered their heads with my poncho can't wear jumpers! Not bad for a one armed effort I think
Margaret
Poor you, hope you are now on the mend, I broke my wrist a few years ago and was in plaster for 13 weeks, poor hubby was a saint even cleaned out the cube in the snow for me. Used to call that maltesers foot. warm foot bath does the job normally, but with one arm, amazing.
Purplemaniacs
Well done Chickabee, you did well to manage to do that with just one arm. Chrissie
Mrs_B
So sorry about your arm, but well done for being able to grab chickens and sort mud balls with your other arm!! My girls are on wood chip that's on top of weed sheeting and turf protector but they've broken it a bit so some mud's come through. After about a week or so my chook Pebble gets the most ridiculous looking mud ball on her middle toe. Her nail is very long, wide and curls under so the mud doesn't break away easily. I have attempted to cut her nail but the vein is right to the end so it's no use and I've given up with her crazy nail lol! I think it's got to be a mix of roots and clay like mud that causes them so quickly for me...I did get her last week and sat her on my lap and picked the mud away with adding some water but I ended up bruising the top of my index finger and thumb because I was sat there for some time. Thought it was going to be a quick job that time x
