Hi,My little Angie (Pekin bantam) is broody and was hatching some eggs she's really good mother,she's done before,but this morning she was not sitting on the eggs,they were cold so I think they are now dead I got them out and now Sheela is sitting on them ,just in case... But Angie is just there not moving and she is sleeping a lot I think she is not well,please can you help?what can I do?

Give her some nutri drops and try syringing some water into her. She could be dehydrated. Fingers crossed for you both

Hi, really didn't want to read and run but can't think of anything other than agree with Chickabee, maybe she has not been eating and drinking enough so I would syringe some drops into her as well, maybe some water with tonic in if you haven't got the nutridrops. Would she eat some of her favourite treats?

My first thought was red mite too... Fingers crossed for her, I hope she takes a turn for the better and that your egglets are OK

How do I check for red mite?and if she has got that will the others get it aswell?do you think some of the eggs might hatch yet?

Check around her vent and under her wings. You'll see tiny little red things running around. Chances are your other girls will have them too

I found it easier to detect in coop.I have never seen the blighters on chicken,but if you go to coop with babywipe or damp kitchen roll and run it around crevices you can catch and squash mite.They look like dots and if squashed will leak blood.

If she has a pale comb it could be red mite L Marques. Otherwise she may have 'burned out' and needs food and water quickly. Anything high energy easily digested will do like liquidised rearer pellets mixed with mealworms and syringed in.

Unless you have serious case of redmite they won't be on the bird they will be hiding in the house put the Palm of your hand on the nest for 5mins then take your hand off and see if they are running all over it the heat will attract them or remove eggs and s"Ooops, word censored!"e bedding away and look underneath leanne
