Couperman
having had a reasonable day at a clients office near hartlepool, (I have been working there part time for nine months, and the main man in charge (short ar*e) spoke to me for the first time today)) i left to find my beloved car 'Rachel' wasn't happy. She started eventually and everything seemed OK. I got to the transporter bridge and all was not well, no amount of accelerator action made any difference. Struggled on to the Gondola using only clutch control and then joined the AA and called them out after we pushed her off the other sidemuch to the annoyance of other bridge users! After two hours the very very nice man from the AA turned up, and guess what 'Rachel' started frst time and had no detectable faults!!!!!!! The car then performed better than ever on the way home with AA van following Oh well Can't go to work tomorrow I need to get my car fixed! Kev. BeckyBoo
I think your car must have been a child in a former life - every time I take min to the doctor with a temperature hat I can't control or some other such symptoms, they instantly get better! Hope you have a nice day with "Rachel"! Mrs B
Snowy
Poor Rachel - hope she feels better today!
Jules.
Couperman, I am glad that it is your car that has broken down & not you! I was getting a tad worried about you then!
Lesley
Aaaaaarrrrgggh! - sounds just like my son's car. It has been doing that to him for two weeks and then just for a laugh it decided to die in Tesco's car park on Wednesday evening. We had a phone call at 9pm - had to pick him up and then Son and girlfriend were off on holiday yesterday morning, flying from Gatwick. We took them to the train station in Banbury yesterday morning and now have the unenviable job of having his car recovered and repaired ready for when he gets back as he needs it for work That's if it wasn't trashed overnight in the car park - I haven't heard yet ) I do hope you manage to get Rachel sorted out Kev - what a shame you can't get to work today
Couperman
Just had a call from the garage, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her other than the oil needs topping up a tad So her little hissy fit has cost me £113 to join the AA and have them watch me drive home as normal! plus another £40 to be told she is fine, plus a days pay! I don't think the oil level has anything to do with the problem as it wasn't low enough to trip limp mode. I think I'll call her Christine from now on! Oh well at least we had a nice stroll along the beach! Kev.

Charlottechicken
When the starter motor went on my car, it cut out as I was driving along (and the power just faded) as well as when trying to start it. The mechanic at the local garage came up to have a look and it started first time for him It sounds similar to your problem Kev (and the oil light came on every time too )
UkButton
Sounds like a fueling prob to me... Injectors or Carbs? Have you filled it up from empty recently?
Jules.
My old mni used to die a death in heavy rain, the rain would get through the grill at the front & cause Archimedes to splutter along. I used to carry a can of WD40 for such moments
Couperman
The garage also mentioned a couple of advisories, namely the steering rack is on its way out and the exhaust manifold is shot, which involves replacing the Catylitic converter as well! Which muppet thought that design out! Not only is it a flawed design but they intergrate it with another expensive piece of kit. That means that over a thousand pounds has got it's hat and coat on! I feel a new car coming on! sorry Rachel. Kev.
