Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Even after nearly 5 years of keeping chickens, the excitement of getting a full house of eggs doesn't lessen. Especially when one of the girls is one of my original hens and an ex batt to boot.

 

And I got 5 eggs yesterday too

They generally all weigh between 65-70g, so really nice sized eggs! Bella's eggs are often a bit larger (with lovely large yolks, due to her being an old lady ) but the shells are usually paper thin so weigh about the same as the rest. Often her eggs don't make it out of the nest box intact, so I'm thrilled to have had two in a row!

I wish I could send you some, luvachicken - I had another 5 today We sell/give away quite a lot of ours as we just can't use that many.

I'd already looked today when I got in and there were no eggs.

I sent hubby later and he said "they did lay you a poo"

Lovely lot of eggs, I agree sometimes when I collect them there's a few and its always exciting when there's a full house sometimes I celebrate by doing some baking. I will make the most of it while it lasts.

One of my hybrids doesn't lay anymore but my ex bat lays most days.

 

The bantams don't lay so regularly so never get a full house now but I love it if I collect a handful of eggs.
