Suzy
Hi, I have just permanently fostered two chooks who were being given away. I have a huge 8m WIR so space is not an issue but based in the space my 'old' 5 girls used to take up in their Eglu, I didn't bother setting up the other one and they've all piled into one Eglu so there's 7 in there. Is that too many? I don't think nest boxes are an issue as only one of my 5 lays so even if both the new ones both lay, there's only 3 which is fine I think. I am just worried about sleeping space. Just keen for a second opinion on whether I should put the other Eglu in. Grateful for thoughts.....
jimnpaula
I've had 7 in an eglu - but they were ex batts and it was a temporary setup. I think I'd put the second eglu in, and then if they want to use it they can.
Egluntyne
So long as there is plenty of run space, they should be fine. They all pile up against each other I find anyway, leaving space empty.
Purplemaniacs
When I had four hybrids in an eglu there seemed loads of space left. I would think they would be fine. I have four in a cube now and they only use a tiny part of the space, preferring to be all close together.. Chrissie
Suzy
Thanks all. Run space isn't an issue. They have an Eglu and an omlet wir plus 2m extension so they didn't actually notice the new girls arriving last night for a while! There's some squabbling going on at the moment but not masses so think they'll be fine. I will see how they do at bedtime tonight and decide then. Thanks as ever for the support.
