Sentiant
Hi all! Just a quick one. When I got my chooks I was told to get asack of poultry gold, which I did, but what are people thought s on this for a POL hen? I only ask as I think there seems to be an awful lot of "stuff" in there that isn't pellets/oyster shell and particuly lots if corn/seed. Blackrocksrock
Never heard of that one - I use Dodson and Horrells layers pellets. I give grit separate and they get grain once a day just a little while they are laying.
Sentiant
Hi there, that's what I read in other posts, I'm thinking of doing the same. It seems to me that there is more other stuff than the pellets which seems wrong to me. Is there a guide to what ratio to feed the ladies of pellet/ oyster etc
Chickabee
I've just read that poultry gold is a complimentary feed, so you feelings were right. Your girls should have a Constant supply of layers pellets, assuming they are the right age. A container of grit and maybe a handful of poultry gold or dried corn at night. Plus some vegetables in the afternoons, if you have any spare
Sentiant
Brilliant, off to shop first thing. My chickens are about 20weeks now so will that be ok for layers pellets?
Purplemaniacs
Yes when I have bought hybrids about that age or slightly younger they have had layers pellets. However like others when I have hatched I have kept them on growers until they started to lay. Chrissie
Egluntyne
Yep, looking at the website, this is just fancy scratch. They need layers pellets, and a handful of this stuff now and then as a treat.
