Janepie33
Some routine blood tests at the GP have resulted in me having to go and speak to someone about my glucose plasma levels. As I don't really know what this means, I have now convinced myself that I have every disease under the sun even though I feel quite fit and well. Anyone else had a similar experience with blood test results?
Alis girls
Was it a fasting blood test? It may have been just above the normal usually above 6.5 (in our health authority - assuming same all over UK) so you may need a Glucose tolerant test which is where you drink a glucose drink and have bloods done at various intervals to see how your body processes it. If those readings are high it may be diabetes - Type 2 if older and can run in famillies - type 1 is in younger people and you tend to feel unwell - wt loss, peeing a lot and very thirsty. If you didnt fast then may need repeat esp if you had a sugar laden breakfast. Usually you are told to fast but can get overlooked. Good luck Janie - silly to say but try not to be too anxious and let us know how u get on. Ali x
Janepie33
Yes Ali, it was a fasting blood test and I am rather hoping that they will tell me that I just need to loose a bit of weight and do some exercise (both of which I know I need to do! ) and all will be well. All will be revealed on Thursday.

Janepie33
Thanks everyone. Think someone made a bit of a mistake as when I went to the GP she said that all the results were within the normal range and I am perfectly healthy!! Hope someone else out there is not walking around with undetected diabetes that they don't know about!
