chickencam
Rather than hijack the other thread I thought I would start this one. We are looking to replace our current double built in electric oven soon and would like something good quality, a proper cooks oven if you know what I mean. Any advice would be welcome. It needs to be still a built in one that fits into the same space. I would like a maximum temperature of more than 250 for bread making. Any specific brand recommendations or suppliers would be great. Thanks Omlet gurus
newcountrygirl
We have an Everhot - runs on a 13amp plug but just like an AGA. Very good and also keeps the kitchen warm.
Charlottechicken
I'm looking for something a little more countryfied for the new cottage, so will be watching this thread with interest. Just seen the prices for the Everhot range though
merlina
I'd like to know the answer to this too... Especially is it worth buying an expensive oven (eg miele) vs a cheap one?
chickencam
That is one of my dilemmas, because we have had a Belling for about 15 years and it has been very good, still looks good too, it is smart black and chrome and looks great on the outside but no so good on the inside The fan is Rattling a lot and you can't clean that bit either. Cinnamon
I have a Rangemaster double oven, with separate grill (took me ages to find an oven with a separate grill!), duel fuel, & it has been brilliant. Its very handy having the 2 ovens, especially at Christmas, & now there are just the 2 of us we only really use the skinny oven, which is cheaper to run. Its similar to this: http://www.cookersandovens.co.uk/Rangemaster_Professional_Plus_100/
Guest
Sorry it will not fit into a fitted oven space but I adore my Rangemaster classsic 90 ceramic, I am taking it with me to the new house and would buy another one like a shot. At Christmas family party we played a game where we had to say what a person would save if the house was fire, everyone said I would save my cooker
The Dogmother
I have this Leisure (Identical to Rangemaster, fraction of the price) cooker; dual fuel, very solid and cooks brilliantly. The style also fits well in my Victorian kitchen/house.
Daphne
We have a de Dietrich built in electric oven. Just a single oven, so not what you want, but we bought it as OH wanted a rotisserie. It has bad points - electric light failed, and the plate over the fan at the back comes off when it shouldn't, and the grill takes forever to heat up, so I wouldn't recommend. However it does work very well at very low and very high temps so that's a good feature - eg for drying mushrooms or baking bread. But the best bit, and something I would go for again in a new oven, is that it has a special oven cleaning feature, where it heats up to 500 degrees or something ( ) with a locked door for safety, and it burns off all the residues. Its called something beginning with 'P' referred to as 'pyrotechnics' in our house
newcountrygirl
Regarding the Everhot they come in all sizes - mine is the 60 which is the same size as an ordinary cooker. They are very economical to use and can switch over to eco at night. They are expensive but they can also be bought second hand sometimes from Everhot when people are changing up or down in size etc. They refurbish them before they sell them on. I have had mine nearly 3 years and wouldnt be without it. Not only does it cook brilliantly but you can use it to air clothes, dry herbs and all sorts of things. A good investment and it can move with you when you move house as it just unplugs. It runs off a 13amp plug. I would like to add that i am not employed by Everhot - just like to sing its praises.
