dancing cloud
Very popular work colleague reaches 60 just before xmas and I've been given the fun of finding her a present (not sure how that happened ). She has said her family are buying her a camera and she's always happy to show us photos of her family and grandchildren, so I thought a nice digital photo frame might be good. Working on roughly £50, are there any you would especially recommend or advise me to avoid? I'm a bit of a luddite, so wouldn't really know what to look for. Many thanks in advance
Princess Leia
Can't recommend a particular type, although searching Amazon by customer review is usually useful. One thing I would say is to check whether it has inbuilt memory or uses a memory card. Card is generally better as you can put that into a computer to load the pictures, but you need to have a PC card reader that matches the type used in the photo frame. If it has a card reader, check whether it comes with a card (and if it does, what size is it). Inbuilt memory may need wi-fi, bluetooth or usb lead connection to the PC and will probably only hold about 10 photos. Some which come supplied with cards may only be small capacity, plus the quality of cards varies enormously. I tend to stick to SanDisc or Kingston memory cards, they both have a good reputation. Unfortunately, a £50 budget may limit your choices a bit.
Angie
My DD says to get one with blue tooth on it so photos can go straight from modern cameras and phones .
dancing cloud
Thank you both - didn't even know they made them with bluetooth ! From contributions to the cause so far, it looks like I should get a much bigger budget to play with (possibly around £100 or more) and should be able to afford something decent. I've been advised to go for as many pixels as I get, and will now know to look at memory cards and bluetooth as well. Amazing what you can learn about by being "volunteered" for something (apparently pixels are not pixies ) and I knew I could rely on this forum for good ideas I'll let you know how I get on. dancing cloud
The collection's not been far yet and we're already up to £43, so I've ordered one of these as, with xmas and all that, I couldn't risk waiting too long to place an order. Fingers crossed the rest of the money is forthcoming! No bluetooth, but it does seem to take everything else and has loads of pixels. http://www.digitalframesdirect.com/digital-photo-frame/7-12-digital-photo-frames-1/10-1-hd-memory-view Hope she likes it
