Littlebitoginger
Hi, can i ask is that a box you've made them and if so, what have you put in it please? I made one with play sand in and they weren't impressed. So I chucked the sand in the run and blow me, if they didn't bath in it!
Chickabee
It normally takes ages for chickens to accept and use their dust bath. It took a new chicken to show mine what to do. I use wood ash in a large shallow trug. I think you just need to keep trying
mullethunter
That's a brilliant photo! I couldn't work out which bit was which for a second Imagine how good it must feel. Happy chickens make me feel happy (and that's quite a feat at the moment)
auntielizzie
Hi littlebitoginger, they have two dust baths now; an old tyre inside their run which I fill with a mix of wood ash and compost and now this new one in their FR area which I have made using a spare vegetable bed I've had in the shed for a couple of years. I just bought some bags of multipurpose compost from B&Q for £3 per bag and chucked it all in, et voila Gavlojak, you're right, all their combs and wattles are pinking up nicely already I just love the way she's got her eyes closed and was so obviously really enjoying herself
