Chortle Chook
I never cease to be amazed by what I learn from the Omlet Forum. Bicarb now at the ready
soapdragon
If the smell is bad, then use Simple Solution spray; really works to get rid of pet odours, and it even shifts that ammonia smell, which causes them to re-spray. I have just clicked on the linky thing and read the reviews; never have I read such conflicting reports of anything!!! Made me laugh! But will pop into Pets at Home next time I am passing and pick some up...thanks, DM!
The Dogmother
It really is very good - ignore the reviews.

Valkyrie
Well I have just met our new neighbours. They seem very nice and friendly. OH chatted with them for longer and apparently they would like chickens!!! I think they'll settle in nicely!!! Then we went out for a "new home" dinner with our old neighbours that moved out and apparently the new fella has apologised to them for not doing the gardening although he had mown the lawn once! Aww bless.

The Dogmother
We have a winter street clean up coming up; we all get out there with shovels, brooms, get the street tidied, and help those less able to do their front gardens. Then there's a winter street market where folks sell crafts etc.
