Luvachicken
I know Emmerdale and the like aren't real, but on Emmerdale today baby Johnny, who I'm sure is under 6 months, was facing forwards in his car seat for his car journey. Real or not, have the rules changed about babies in car seats ?
Valkyrie
It's been a while since I had babies in the car - but I would think the air bag would be a mega danger there.
soapdragon
As far as I am aware you should not have a child/baby in a baby seat in the front of a car with airbags, whichever way the seat is facing. Not sure about booster seats but our 11 year old now sits in the front as he is tall enough to not need a booster but the 8 year old is still confined to the back on his booster - tho maybe I am an overprotective mother
chickencam
I think that the rules are a lot about weight and height. I know when the new regulations came in our youngest was except from having to use a booster because she was fall for her age. I still had to remember to keep a booster seat thou for her tiny friends. Baby seats are used according to the weight of the child as dark as I understand it. Geoid
0kg to 25kg - Rear-facing baby carrier, or rear-facing baby seat using a harness. 9kg to 18kg - Rear or forward-facing baby seat using a harness or safety shield. You must not use a rear facing baby seat in a vehicle that has passenger side airbags which have not been deactivated.
Margaret
My Grandson has always sat in the front with me, but airbag is not on.
Luvachicken
Sadly my children were born just before all those lovely carry car seats came along. We had a big, heavy, chunky car seat that faced backwards and that lasted until 6 months, then after that it tilted up a bit so it could face forwards until they were about 4 years old. How things change.
Valkyrie
Number one son was on a booster seat from an early age - he was just so darned tall! Then it had to be without because he kept kicking me in the back (either that or he'd sit with his knees under his chin) and I have the seat as far forward as I can when driving!!! He was born a bean pole and thankfully has stopped growing - somewhere in excess of 6ft! DD was in the chunky one for a while - the only place we knew she couldn't escape! My friend said he was never a baby when being cuddled because his legs "draped" over your arms! School trousers and school shoes to fit are for a different thread title!!!!
