gavclojak
Hello everyone and I hope your all well, nice to hear from you again beantree, I thought you had abandoned us!! Feels like I have been away ages with one thing and another going on!! I have been away for the last few weeks on holiday and it's the first time I have sent the girls away to a holiday home, they have been there three weeks and I am collecting them tomorrow. My question is, will they remember me? Also will they remember there home when I get them back?
mollyripkim
Hope you have a great time. Don't worry when I only had a few girls they went to a chicken sitter and I was worried to. But when we went to pick them up they came charging over and settled back home straight away and were as friendly as ever.
Cat tails
Welcome back and don't worry! Mine have been in boarding for more than three weeks and they were fine. Don't expect them to fling themselves in your lap at collecting. But they should feel at home quickly enough.

gavclojak
It was beautiful thank you. We zip lined, rode quads through the jungle, we swam in cenotes, we visited talum and coba and did a bike ride. The best thing we did was charter a private boat and crew and sailed from our base in mexico to isla mujeres and contay, totally amazing, we snorkelled and paraglided...it was a magical holiday with my husband, three kids and their three partners so eight of us in total. redsunset
Missed you, never mind the chooks! Lol. Sounds like you had an amazing time and those two islands bring back memories as went to them both. Felt like Ms Crusoe on isla Contoy and watched the black birds (forget the name of them) puff up their scarlet gullets trying to attract the ladies! Snorkelled off Isla Mujere and and remember being fascinated by 4 very long large fish in a straight line swimming towards me......found out later they were barracuda and can bite worse than a shark! Ignorance is bliss! Happy memories!
gavclojak
Oh gosh red sunset it's so funny you said that as I did exactly the same, saw a barracuda and didn't have a clue!!! The holiday was just what we needed, I buried my dad the day befor we flew after the most horrendous two months. My girls did remember me and came running over babbling away and when I got them home, I popped them on the patio and they literally ran up the garden to go into their run bless them

gavclojak
Sh that was a whole other thread. Dad was taken in to a hospice on my birthday 20th Jan and it was clear he wasn't going to come home. I suggested to my partner of 31 years About getting married as I wanted dad with me if it were ever going to happen.sonwe talked about it on Monday 22feb spoke to hospice and got a special licence on 23 Feb and had a suprise wedding in the hospice chapel on 26 Feb...didn't tell anyone. If your interested in the thread it's on the nesting box section under "I'm getting married this Friday"
redsunset
Oh my!, just found and read the thread and had tears in my eyes! That was amazing! Funny how I imagined you being a married lady all along, but......! Lovely story and I bet your dad was so proud. Living together up here in NW Scotland would have been totally scandalous 30 years ago ( tho no big deal now) but I love what you did there and the fact it only cemented an already strong foundation even further for you. Lost my dad too, to cancer almost 7 years ago and little sister and i took a much needed break away to Turkey the following year and it was one of the best hols ever and much appreciated. Still miss him hugely and he was gone before I became a 'mad chicken woman!' So never met my girls.
gavclojak
Thanks so much redsunset, it was a special day and the holiday couldn't have come at a better time. I think about him every day but I have some great memories and I feel he is still with me as is your dad and sister with you. You can almost imagine what they would say when they saw you in your willies (couldn't resist) cleaning out a zillion hens:)
