Alis girls
I am on a roll at present. My YS who has you know has OCD and anxiety seems to have settled a little. Year 11 is a hard year and he seems to be more focused. And has stopped going on about wanting a g/f for which we are happy. There is time after GCSEs for the ladies. So with all this in mind I have started clearing out his room. It is long overdue but bearing in mind his fragile state we have found stuff hes happy to wave goodbye too and those which will languish in the loft. My friend said her daughter of 16 still has dolls and their clothes under her bed so made me feel a little better. Apart from a lot of dust I found one action man minus head didn't find it so goodness knows where that went. Out went a lot of old clothes to charity shop and some toys to Romanian girl at work who has three boys. This weekend I am off to my dad's to do some much needed cleaning and decluttering there. Now we have to agree on some nice bedroom furniture. I have to say it feels good to out all this stuff.
soapdragon
Good for you and also YS for just getting on with it! Every few months I go into ES (12) room with a bin bag and fill it! He is a magpie and I find all sorts of old bits and bobs that he never misses!
bluekarin
I need to be doing the same. We are planning on moving house in the next 6 months or so and after 22 years in this house we have quite a bit of stuff Hubby is away next week for 5 days, so I shall make a start on our bedroom slash storage room. Then the plan is to have a brutal clearout of the kitchen. We have so much stuff stashed away in various cupboards, that once cleared I might find I actually have room for everything
Alis girls
Yes you have to tread carefully, no I never likes their stuff messed with and he seems happy to have more space etc. He has asked me if I'd thrown out a particular Pokemon toy hes convinced I have. I suspect it's somewhere languishing in dust. I am such a bad housekeeper difficult when you work and more to life than cleaning.
Grandmashazzie
Oh I love decluttering. I too admit to doing it when the little treasures are at school. Bin bags fill quite nicely when no one is retrieving stuff. Ali's girls your boy is older so a bit more savvy as to where his stuff is. Blackrocksrock
I am certainly not a fan of cleaning and tidying all the time like some so I have decluttered a lot of stuff = who needs all those knick knacks which require lots of dusting. I have too much of everything somehow and these days I throw out/recycle stuff each week so its getting better. It is liberating
