lugreen
Hi, I'm hoping for some advice on one of my chickens. She's a Brahma, just over a year old and second hand. I collected her and her sister on Friday from a lady who was downsizing her Brahma flock in favour of Orpingtons. She has lots of chickens and kept them in quite basic conditions but they were clean and i saw all three of her flocks and they looked in good condition. I checked them over thoroughly and they had clear eyes and noses, no nasty sounds in their chests and apart from some lice, they looked ok. I noticed this one gaping a little when they came out of the car but it had been a long drive and it was warm. I checked them over again and have been keeping a close eye on them. They have both looked fine until about half an hour ago when I noticed this one straining her neck out like she struggling to breathe and sneezing. I've quarantined her with fresh water and some food but I'm worried and can't get to the vets till tomorrow. I've added a link to videos below, has anyone any ideas what she might have and what if anything I can do in between now and the vets? Thank you x https://1drv.ms/f/s!AobO_I-I1BI0nt4HB1WqggOi4Us6Bg
Luvachicken
Aww she does sound quite congested doesn't she. You have done the right thing separating her because then she can rest without being disturbed. I'm sure the vet will probably give her some antibiotics and then she will be on the mend. It could just be the shock of moving house that has brought it on. Let us know how she gets on at the vets tomorrow - at least they should be open then. Millie-Annie
Mycoplasma can be brought on by stress, if she carries it, which she probably does if she was from a large flock. Luckily very easy to sort with antibiotics
