Fitness for summer.

Recommended Posts

I have upped my stepper from 20 mins to 25 per session and am aiming for at least 5 sessions per week - 6 in a good week (got to have one day off  ) Also I am trying to walk a brisk circuit of the village two to three times a week. This is in addition to the usual 6 hours of housework/cleaning per week plus mine. I was 9st 9lb last Saturday morning which is goodish for me at 5ft 5' but I just can't shift the wobbly middle! Age 52 and 3/4 I find weight varies by up to 4/5lb too....appears on the scales for no reason then drops again  It's hard to come to terms with the fact that I'll never look like an ironing board

Its a HARD, HARD slog, PL! I only eat one meal a day and drink lots of coffee - at my heaviest I was 13st 8lb and lightest 8st 10lb...have been just about everything in between over the years. Weight has always been a problem for me one way or another and I look back now and think how silly I was to waste so much time being hung up about being overweight/underweight/eating too much/too little

I don't look 'slim' at present weight but 'in proportion' as mother tactfully puts it and, do you know what, that'll just have to do!!!! I think now, on balance, its more about being a 'healthy' weight and keeping moving - even if there are some really freaky, creaky noises joint wise

Your weight sounds fine to me. I am 5'3" and about the same weight which feels pretty slim for me. Lowest that I have been for about 20 years. My highest was back in the autumn last year at about 11st 5.

I too have wobbly tummy but trim waist . My tummy I have decided is a badge of homour for my children

I will try to trim it in some way now that I have lost weight but how successful I will be remains to be seen!

So, how's it all going with you?

I'd also recommend ParkRun, and ran my 8th last week. I really enjoy it, it's a good start to the weekend, as it means you're up and ready to go, and fully awake afterwards to get on with the rest of the day!

Admittedly, I don't think I really need this thread, as try to be plenty active enough, which is what seems to come with doing a wheat PhD, with stamina being the main requirement at the moment. At the peak of it over the previous fortnight I've had 7-8 hour days multiple times a week walking plots, although fortunately I'm not cycling there this year, as doing 6 hour days in the field 5-6x a week, heat and cycling around 60 miles a week (which I was doing last year), really is exhausting.

Happily I'm managing to fit in at least 3 running sessions a week at the mo, plus cycling in the region of at least 30 miles a week, and several miles walking.

Following my good intentions weeks ago! OH and I did day 1 of couch potato to 5k. We are on holiday for next 5 weeks and aim is to join in with boys junior park run in Sept maybe progressing to real thing (5k) I am slim and remember being weighed in hospital aged 14 at 7 Stone 12 in the intervening years have put on 1 stone apart from pregnancies. Though slim does not = fit. I have no stamina whatsoever.
