BridieLou
Does anyone keep their hens in a Go Up with 4-5 metre run (i.e., 3 additional run extensions)? What's it like? Are they happy, is it spacious enough? Does it become week if you add too many together? Thanks, B
newchickmumma
Following as I'd be keen to know too! We're brand new to chicken keeping and just got our first Eglu Go Up, 3m run and 3 chickens last week. Have got Omlet chicken netting to let them have larger area to free range when we can supervise (prob 2 hrs a day ish) but the 3m run just looks so small when they're shut in the rest of the time. Debating whether to buy some extra run extensions of take advantage of 30 day money back guarantee and trade up for something bigger... In fairness the chickens seem quite happy so far, so maybe I'm worrying about nothing? Just want them to be really happy!
Cat tails
I used to have 3 bantams in the standard run and they were perfectly fine. Currently have 5 bantams and added an additional "run" to the Go Up. In my case, just some dog wire with netting on top. (Have no foxes around here in the Netherlands.) The additonal area adds about 2,5 square metres to their area. Personally I wouldn't add 3 run extentions, since the run extentions each are around €100. For €300 you can give them similar area, which is more practical for you too, to clean etc. Also think about adding perches to your existing run. I have just stuck pieces of timber through the run. Where it rests on the run, I made some grooves in the wood, to keep them in place.
BridieLou
Thanks both! Really appreciate the comments. Will look into a 2m x 2m extension instead. Hurrah! x
