Roksteddie
One of my girls no longer lays egg with smooth egg shells. For weeks now the shells are always sprinkled with areas where the surface is bumpy, grainy and rough to the touch. The rest of the shell is of excellent strength. Are these calcium deposits? The other 2 girls' eggs are perfectly smooth and normal and it just doesn't look so good in an egg box when there are some that are clearly not 'perfect'. Silly, I know! What could be causing this? Is this the result of too much calcium in her diet (though they all eat the same)?
percy049
One of my hens has always laid eggs with extra 'bobbles' on them
AndyRoo
Ours do this sometimes; I've no idea why, but it doesn't seem to negatively affect them in any way so I just ignore it.
