Egluntyne
Apparently they have to be meat eating males, veggie wee is no good so I'm told. Eh? I never said that!
Tony
can I ask where the camp site was, Tony? It sounds brilliant, I'd love to go somewhere like that!! It's in Bude, Cornwall. If anyone watched the BBC series "It's not easy being green" it's the site run by two sisters that Dick Strawbridge (Photo of him with my Land Rover in My photo's) helped to install the turbine, compost loos etc. http://cerenetycampsite.com/ We specifically searched for it on the web before we went because we wanted a "Green" site to camp on. They had Alpacas and loose chickens everywhere hence the need for meat eating males Some holiday photo's here if anyone is interested. http://www.cig.canon-europe.com/a?i=CvgXBe3qIm
Tony
I didn't say I was 100% sure they had to be meat eaters, I said... "Apparently they have to be meat eating males, veggie wee is no good so I'm told." I was told by these people http://www.itsnoteasybeinggreen.org/ when I spent the day there on a Bio Diesel course and they are a pretty reliable source. They have dozens of rescue chickens and had eight taken by a fox in one day. They put up an electric fence to keep the fox out so maybe the urine theory doesn't work at all, carnivorous, herbivore or otherwise. Gallina
I wouldn't rely on urine alone. In any case, wouldn't the testosterone in the male urine deter just the territorial male foxes? The vixens might be attracted to it and come looking for a new kind of furless mate. Male urine is good for the compost heap, incidentally, but not female urine because of the hormones in it. Tony
I have heard that Lion poo works wonders. I know, I know, where does one get Lion poo from in rural England? Maybe a zoo or circus? Take home a bag of Lion poo instead of Candy Floss
Gallina
You can get lion poo online from quite a few places, e.g. Crocus I have heard, however, that tiger poo is better for deterring foxes. It may be true, as I don't have any tiger poo and I certainly do have foxes. What I can't find online is male urine. There is a gap in the market here. Judging by this list alone I don't think my supply could keep up with demand
Chickaboo
You poor things. Exactly the same thing happened to me, its an awful noise to wake up to, I am now alert to every sound in the garden. Like you I think it was good thing it happened because I had become a bit complacent, letting them out unsupervised etc. However, I was sure the fox would be back, and since then (about 18mths ago)we have had no sight or sound of a fox by the girls, and we live in a big 'foxy area' and frequently see them crossing the road or on the streets but strangely they have never seemed to go near our girls again. I can't explain it. So hopefully you will be as lucky.

Need; something to transport it in, method of delivery - can you send urine by post? - method of ordering. I'm happy to sit here drinking cups and cups of tea in order to supply the good ladies of the Omlet forum with fox deterrant - at a price!
