Classy Chick
I know, I know, you are all seasoned egg layers but I had to share the news that Ella (who arrived on Thursday morning) has just laid her first (perfectly shaped) egg! I am soooooooooo proud of her! The only think is, I can't decide what to do with it! What did you all do with your first eggs?
Egluntyne
Congratulation. Boiled with toast soldiers is the only way.
BeckyBoo
Congrtaulations! I hope you did the egg dance! It's soooo exciting isn't it - you have to post it on here, everyone else would think you were mad!! Fried, by the way, on a piece of fried bread! Hen Watch
Congratulations on the first egg. My eldest daughter had the first tiny egg (a double yolker) fried on toast. It was weeny and now the same chicken lays whopping great big eggs only 4 months later. Hope you enjoy it however you cook it.....

Classy Chick
Thanks for all of your suggestions! We were thinking of making a small batch of fairy cakes so we could all share in the moment! Will put a photo on asap - if I can work out how to do it! James H
hoorey!!!! well done ella, I cant wait for eggs to come from my bantams!!!
Shirl
Think you've got a long wait like me James. I've got 3 pekin bantams too so no eggs 'til spring for me either.
Classy Chick
Well I don't know much at all about Bantams but already looking forward to hearing about their first egg action! Funny thing is, Ella laid the egg and promptly walked off. Sam came charging in and tried to sit on it (think she was trying to POACH it...!) and keeps making trips back to the eglu. Everytime she does, I look for a deposit from her but nothing! Very odd behaviour! Have a birthday cake to make tomorrow for Tuesday but it is going to be a fairy cake if I only have Ella's egg to make it with!
