Charlottechicken
I was really saddened to hear she had died, I thought she would prove the experts wrong. What an inspiration she has been too, to have cancer for 17 years and manage all those amazing feats of endurance whilst being terminally ill. A truly amazing person. chelsea
that she was, I admit I was sad when I heard it on the radio coming home from work. What amazing courage.
Mel (& Paul)
If only I could have half her self belief and positivity (if there is such a word). Glad to see that it was headline news - makes a nice change from that "Big Brother" rubbish, or self important politicians talking rubbish. buffie
I didn't know but I bet she'd not want us to be sad. She'd want us to fight like she did. An amazing woman and she's left her mark BBx

susiepoos
What an inspiration to us all - I wish I had half of her strength, commitment and resolve. God bless - goodnight Jane
Dancing Gal
I was very sad to hear that Jane had died. She hung on for 7 years after being diagnosed terminal and I wish it could have been longer. My sister has terminal cancer and she was diagnosed with it 3 months ago. It's been an incredibly hard time and we are only just trying to get back to normal, instead of living waiting for the grim reaper to appear any second. We all put our lives on hold. The knowledge that Jane and others like her have survived for decades has helped us during this period. Yesterdays news was a shock as we have been using Jane as a bit of a benchmark. I've no idea why I'm telling you guys about this, when none of my work colleagues know anything about it.
susiepoos
Dancing Gal - it's sometimes easier to tell people who you don't physically see every day - your work colleagues would be asking you lots of questions and really work is a break from all those difficult times with your family. It's an exhausting time for you and it's very difficult trying to think of other things but the very cruel reality is that life has to go on. Any time you need to unload do it here. I've been in your position and tried to keep a brave face for everyone else and it nearly cracked me up. Take care
The Dogmother
Sue's right Dancing Gal; over the years, I've made some very good and close friends on this forum - we don't see each other that often because of geographical challenges, but we share our problems and it helps to put them into perspective and lessen the load. We do really care and will be a listening ear or a shoulder for snot (eh, Mel ) when you need it. xxxx
Guest
God bless Jane What a brave woman she was It is good to have this forum to air any problems, (big or small) There is always someone out there who will share a good old bit of common sense or a listening ear Long may it carry on
Mel (& Paul)
We do really care and will be a listening ear or a shoulder for snot (eh, Mel ) when you need it. xxxx Absolutely. Having chickens means that our clothes get a bit dirty anyway - so a bit of tears and snot on the shoulder are nothing to worry about. The forum is a big happy family with none of the draw backs of a big happy family **Group Hug**

ubereglu
She really was truly amazing wasn't she...instead of giving up and saying, I'm gonna die, she woke up to it and did as many things as possible-as Paula Radcliffe said, 'she's done more things than any olympic runner could ever do and she just kept going'. I really did think she did wonders, she outlived expectations and it was incredible she lived until 2007 as she'd been given just 6 months to live back in 2000. She raised money for a great charity and the money that's been raised will hopefully find a cure for the cancer she died of.
chelsea
I watched the funeral on Sky today (whilst I was doing some shredding ) it was very moving and I was in tears. Deep thought - Im not a particularly religious person, (I do believe in God though), but I feel people like Jane are put here amongst us by someone up there to show us/teach us compassion, love, caring, unselflessness, and courage. What a wonderful human being,....not a flashy celebrity or a royal or a superstar - just a normal person, and a very special one. Deep thought over. Im very emotional today. I'd better not watch The Wizard of Oz.
