feemcg
I doubt they'd be deformed, just crosses, though its hard to imagine what they'll look like. Are you going to let her sit?
fairy&cake
im not sure!!! Part of me wants to, as im excited BUT part of me is worried they'll be deformed!
Shirl
I can't see wht they'd be deformed, it's no different to large dog mating with a small one.
Rabbieboy
They won't be deformed, they will be either big, medium sized or bantam sized. My understanding of it is that Cross breeding (selectively) is how we end up with all the breed we have now whether it's a chicken, cow, sheep or any other domestic animal. I would try hatching them and see what happens, at worst you will have a load of "Ginga" bantams running around.
rachel19
I'm sure bantams are not all that different to the large hens, just small versions so when they were being bred the smallest from each hatch would have been selected to breed and then their smallest to breed etc etc until you get what you want - much the same with every other animal or plant that has been bred for certain qualities. Im guessing the size you get will depend upon which size gene is dominant and what is passed to the little ones so you could end up was a complete mixture Go for it! bronze
No they wont be deformed. A friend is taking both my bantams and my lf and is planning to breed the size out of them
The Dogmother
Just be sure that you have homes (or room in the freezer) for the resulting offspring before you let her sit Laura. Or you'll be left with a few unwanted cockerels.
CockADoodleDoo
they probably wont be deformed as my friend crossed a silkie bantam with a creamlegbar and the chicks were fine they looked like big silkies had silkie feathers creamlegbar coulour were cream leg size and some layed blue eggs
