Susan Osborne
I have a sitting broody and new chicks in a two metre run. Does anyone have any ideas how to reduce down to a one metre run so I can easily feed and water by new little ones?
Patricia W
Omlet used to make a kit to transform the classic run for rearing chicks. Might be worth giving them a call? I think one issue was the chicks putting their heads through the mesh so it had a skirt.
mullethunter
I’ve used spare bits of run mesh just wedged across in the past, and have bodged with chicken wire. Mind you that was for youngsters 4 weeks plus so a bit bigger. I’m sure with their mum in there they’ll be fine with 2m though.
The Dogmother
They will be fine with a 2m run - I have often used one for raising chicks. The crucial things are: Ramp to get in/out of the Eglu for the first few days Non-slip flooring in the Eglu for the first couple of weeks while their legs strengthen - I use that rubberised webbing to stop mats and trays from slipping Put kick board round INSIDE the run, or something to stop them poking their stoopid heads through.... I have had to rescue chicks before now, luckily they lived
