millymeerkat
Hello everyone! Do you have one or two really good pics of your girlies? I am currently on the hunt for photographs of chickens, but I don't want to 'steal' them from the image section of the forum - I'd like your donations... If you have an unusual, funny or beautiful photo of one or all of your hens and you wouldn't mind sending it to me, it'd be lovely to have a go at drawing/painting them... I am a bit poorly at the moment as I am recovering from an operation (op No.14 if you please) and to take my mind of it all, I've taken up painting and drawing again. I've started a website: www.fresh-as-a-daisy.com - if you take a peek you can see my first two drawings in 3 years... At the moment I am drawing my own hens, but would like new sources of inspiration. Please feel free to take a peek at my site and/or PM me with link/files of photo's. Just your favourite one or two photo's would be great. Don't worry about sending loads. The more colourful or funny the better! I particularly love interesting markings on chooks and funny poses! Please only do this if you are happy for me to submit my drawing/painting of your photograph(s) on my website (I don't want to get into some copyright hoohaa!) This is just a hobby and a distraction from real life at the mo, but if people like my work enough in the future I may consider selling/displaying my paintings/drawings and I'd hate to upset anyone by not getting consent to use their original photographs - hope that makes sense. So, by sending me your pics, you're consenting to me using them in the above mentioned ways. I will not pass your photograph off as my own, but I may use my drawing of your photograph on my site, make it into a greetings card or just keep it in my sketch book. Who knows...?! Hope that's covered it all. Sorry for being so long winded. Any photographic donations or comments would be gratefully received! Many thanks for your time, love Milly & the girls
The Dogmother
Glad to hear you're getting better Millie. There are some photos of my girls in the album link at the bottom of my signature, and also here We'd all be interested to see how you get on. millymeerkat
Thanks for your comments and for letting me look at and use your pics. I forgot to mention that I when I do a painting/drawing, I title it with the name of the hen I've drawn. Therefore, if you supplied me with a pic I'd use your hens name as the title and make a note underneath that the 'photograph supplied by...' I like your website - it's amazing the inspiration you can get from hens. I used to draw and paint all the time - I even have a degree in Art - but haven't done so in about 3 years. My hens are such great company that I couldn't resist drawing them - they're such inspiring little things! Bless them!
ubereglu
Glad you enjoyed looking at the bits and pieces I sell, I like hearing people's feedback.
Egluntyne
Sorry to hear you have been ill. I'm not much of a photographer, but I've got a new camera so I'll see what I can do.
millymeerkat
It feels strange 'releasing' work for people to see for the first time. My husband says he likes them, but I lack a bit of confidence in myself! I'm only doing it for a bit of fun and more as a distraction at the mo. I have another operation coming up, so can't get into it too heavily. But I did used to sell paintings at college and end of year shows at uni. Part of me wonders if I've still 'got it'?!?!? I'll keep you all updated when there are more photo's of my work on my site. Like you say, feedback really helps, so I'll have my ears open to comments when more work goes on... It's lovely to chat to people who not only love chooks but love art too!!!

millymeerkat
Hi Egluntine, I don't claim to know a lot about photography, but even though I have an A grade in A-level photography, I find it's always the pics you don't plan or set up that are the best. Just have a play around and I'm sure it'll turn out great!

millymeerkat
WOW, I never expected such great feedback! Thank you! I am not at the point of selling work now, but do you really think people would be interested in buying drawings or items that feature my drawings, ie greetings cards???? Please leave feedback on my site the next time you check it out as hopefully it'll encourage others to do the same. Feedback is so important - I nearly had one of those 'rip it out the sketch book and throw it away' arty tantrums until my husband said he liked them. Thanks or all your support. Claret - got a photo in mind I'm going to start work on tomorrow! Thanks everyone and please keep the inspiration coming!

Cate in NZ
I've been peeking too, and I'm really impressed, you have a great talent You're very welcome to use any of my photos, but I've not got many in the gallery........... somehow I always get in tangles in there so give it a wide berth . I'll check out any links I can find though.
millymeerkat
Thanks so much for the comment xChicken04x Keep an eye out for me and check back at my site in a month or two and who know's what'll be on there - I really feel inspired. I am really fighting, trying not to be beaten by my poor health, but sometimes life does get you down. I never imagined such wonderful comments and feel like really trying to 'go for it' and see what I can do and not let what's going on beat me. When I used to paint, I would get totally absorbed in what I was doing and this could be just the thing to help me cope. I can't wait to start drawing again tomorrow! What a lovely bunch you all are! millymeerkat
Wow, lots of thank you's to say: Kate: There are some great pics there! What I'm doing is I'm saving donated pics into a folder and making sure I make a note of who's donated what and I'll do my best to keep you updated when I've painted/drawn your girls. Thanks for your donations. xChicken04x: Thank you for your kind words of support. Art is an amazing subject and incredibly personal. It took alot for me to show fellow Omleteers my work, but I feel really inspired and lifted. I am sorry to hear you have also been unwell. I have had my condition for 11 years now and it has been getting me down. I can totally appreciate how you feel like sobbing. My art has really given my mind breathing space from all the worry and stopped me from causing trouble when I'm supposed to be resting! (Just love housework - I know I'm mad and that hubby is doing a very good job, but I'm itching to get up and about and I know I can't!!!) Bantam of the Opera: What a great pic - full of cheekiness and I love the mixture of hens. Definately will be painting that one too! THANKS to all of you who have supported me. Keep the pics coming!!! PS: I was so excited with the donations of pics last night that I stayed up late and got up early and have managed to churn out a couple more drawings - check out the website in an hour or so and they'll hopeully be on there! (Huge thanks to Claret for the images) Hubby is going to help me get some more art materials at the weekend (I've been drawing using 99p pack of colouring pencils as I lost my ridiculously expensive set of pencils at uni one time - can't wait to get better equipment and materials!!!) millymeerkat
Aww, don't worry... I got rid of some very expensive stuff I used a few years ago when at uni, but oh well! New materials for a fresh, positive start! By the way - I've posted some new drawings of your girls on my website ( www.fresh-as-a-daisy.com) I hope I've done them justice... Thanks for everything x
