Elderly cat breathing difficulties when purring

Does anyone leave their house door open overnight, when weather is warm? It is so early to get up at the moment and the house is in a secure run - just concerned about draughts and what other people thought. We have a Go Up house.

I have cubes (mark 1) and always leave the door open at night (always have) the whole assembly is located on a slabbed base, so as secure as I can make it.

Obviously, I wouldn't advise that you leave the door open at night - it's up to you to make that call.

I leave the door of my Go Up open year round. But I have no fox issues on the right side of the pond.

This question is asked SO often! My Eglu Cube is attached to an Eglu run which is attached to a lot rise WIR. It’s all on slabs. I leave the door open all the time unless the temperature drops below 0.

Sorry to jump on this...... What do you do about the food/rats? I’m assuming the b@ggers can get through the wire on a classic run so have been taking it in every night....

Well just that. Take the food in and make sure there isn’t any spilled food either.

I take it that makes it trickier to leave the door open.....?

Perhaps my weird logic.... If I can’t leave food out won’t they be shouty when they get up?

It all depends on your routine and what you teach them. They love a good routine!

I don’t take in their food and scatter their breakfast in the run at night, but I have a good hunting tomcat and neighbours on all sides, including living above me. They are actually more well behaved when they can get themselves up for me, than when I let them wake me up to be let out. 

Just try it out and see how they do. It will cost you one very shouty early morning at the most.

No I see what you mean - that would make sense. I don’t take the food in at night. I have mice but not rats. That’s not to say I never will, but I haven’t so far 🤞🏻
