The Dogmother
is there a moderator listening? we're calling for you to ask Omlet to seel aubiose/hemcore/or some sort of hemp bedding in your Omlet shop! We want it here and we want it NOW! Don't worry, I showed it to Johannes on Saturday and he seemed impressed and wrote the details down. Maybe you could set up a "suggestion box" with some sort of freebie for ideas you use?
The Dogmother
Nice try, but you'd have to speak to the guys about that.

The Dogmother
Ring the main Omlet number (see home page) or email james@omlet.co.uk. Johannes was looking at the Hemcore in my run/eglu and was impressed at how dry it is.

arowland17
that is a good idea omlet stocking it - I live right in the middle of the foot and mouth area and the farm shop I get mine from together with the feed etc is in Pirbright where all these problems kicked off so I haven't a clue whether I'll be able to get to them in the near future - I know I went just after the foot and mouth 1st outbreak and there were trays of liquid detergent to dip feet in before entering but things seem to have escalated since....I am running low on feed so think I'll have to give them a ring this week and find out whether the farm shop is still open to the public! surrey_chickens
We have hemcore in our 6'x3' run. The food and water is in the run as well and always gets a good amount of hemcore in it. How do you prevent hemcore from contaminating the food/water? I've tried shields, thinning the hemcore in the food area, telling the birds off(!), nothing works! At least with plain old ground I didn't get this problem. The food and water are on an old tree trunk section about 5 inches off the ground and the water is raised a further 5 inches. Should I raise them further?
The Dogmother
I had that once, but I'd put too thick a layer of Hemcore in the run, I just reduced it the next time and it was fine.
arowland17
ours kick it into their water but i just have to change that daily, thye kick hemcore into the water whether I put a thin or thick layer down, and when they've kicked all the hemcore out of the run they kick mud into the water!! lozkate
You could hang a water dispenser from the apex of the run?? Would be fun watching them get a soaking when they bump into it! L
