craftyhunnypie
Hi - we went to Stapeley Water gardens on Saturday in the Palms oasis there & fell in love with the little puddle ducks. Now hubby wants a ducklu. But are these puddle ducks rare? Would they be alright in a ducklu or is it cruel? I haven't got a pond either would a paddling pool or an old tin bath or even a washing up bowl do as somewhere for them to splash in? Just wondered as hubby hasn't stopped going on about these little ducks. Emma.x
Martin B
The ducklu would be great for the ducks, and a paddling pool or old bath would be perfect. You would need to consider that the container needs to be easy to empty as they make lots of mess in the water.
gooner.girl
Ducks are fantastic! But you have to empty the pond reguarly as they do make a mess in it!

I must say they are very interesting to watch.
Krysia
Were the ducks for sale? or just on show? I didn't think the palms oasis had ducks? (they certainly didn't on mothers day) How much were they if they were for sale? Ps I read this post mainly out of curiosity as My son goes to Puddle ducks for swimming lessons! we also want ducks once the Cube arrives and free's up one of the Eglu's! Aunty e
Were they maybe call ducks? They're quite dinky and cute as the dickens. Noisy though, which is why we eventually decided against it.
Richard T
What are Puddle Ducks? I googled "puddle ducks" and, apart from swimming classes for babies, Beatrix Potter, and a company selling spares for Aston Martins , it came up with this link: http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=272626&sid=78dd544031a17964b5ddebe81877948c

We might have to make room for a couple more girlfriends for him, and keep him away from the chickens.
craftyhunnypie
They'd got them labelled up as puddle ducks! They were on show, not for sale. They eat the green weedy stuff on the surface on the water & they have their own little waterfall. I'll try and find the photo we have of them. One minute!!! craftyhunnypie
Cute aren't they??? Maybe Stapeley don't know their real name & have just called them puddle ducks..who knows? Are ducks noisy to have in a garden or no noisier than chickens? Just wondered! Emma.x
