GemmaJ
A few weeks ago we noticed one of our hens had become a feather pecker and was leaving a couple of our others with bald patches. There was no damage other than feather loss. We fitted her with a bumpa bit and have been using anti peck spray. She’s still trying to peck after a few weeks and some of the other hens are now replicating her behaviour, although there doesn’t appear to be any feather loss. So is this normal preening or should I intervene with the others too? We have five hens in total. The anti peck spray doesn’t seem to have any effect at all. Unless anyone can recommend a really good one? I’m a bit of a loss at to how to stop the problem!!!
mullethunter
If no feathers are being removed I’d just keep things as they are for now. If feathers do start being plucked again though you might need to fit bumpa bits to the others too. No experience of anti peck spray I’m afraid.
