jomaxsmith
You know when a chicken lays an egg, we all do the egg dance??? Well what dance do you do when you lay a baby?? My second son weighed 9lb 7oz. It was some months before I was able to think about any kind of dance! Jo
Snowy
You know when a chicken lays an egg, we all do the egg dance??? Well what dance do you do when you lay a baby?? Well, you know that Riverdance that involves keeping your arms still and just using your legs? It's the opposite of that - keep the legs still (preferably crossed) for a long time and just use the arms!
The Dogmother
my firend had 40 stitches and couldn't wee in a straight line, let alone dance! Fingers crossed that all the fireworks have brought it on.... we're like a load of clucky hens, aren't we?
Ain't Nobody Here
my firend had 40 stitches and couldn't wee in a straight line, let alone dance! Love that . This baby's going to have more "aunties" & "grannies" than he/she'll know what to do with .
chocchick
Ow My friend is about 10 days over the due date. Why are births induced at a certain date, surely it's a natural thing that happens when it happens? She doesn't want to be induced.
Ain't Nobody Here
I was due to be induced but then he arrived, as if by magic, 10 days late and on my birthday! That seems to be quite common (the baby arriving once you've got an induction date, not giving birth on your birthday!)
Snowy
Thankfully they try not to induce these days unless there is a good clinical indication. They give you at least a fortnight over, then they monitor you carefully. With my oldest I was induced at 4 days over (it coincided with the maternity unit being quiet - but that was 16 years ago), but with the last one they were happy to let me get on with it. He was 13 days late in the end. I'd just about resigned myself to having to be induced on the Wednesday and he was born on Tuesday morning It can be harmful to the baby if they are left in too long - the placenta is unable to continue to meet the nutritional demands of the baby. But they should monitor the situation carefully and only induce if they have concerns about baby's health.
Egluntyne
My youngest arrived in the early hours of the day I was to be induced...a Friday the Thirteenth ....He was a fortnight late. Here's hoping we get some news today!
jomaxsmith
That seems to be quite common (the baby arriving once you've got an induction date, not giving birth on your birthday!) I was booked in for induction on the Wed with ds2 and had him naturally on the Monday. Lucky really, as it was January 2004 when there was a massive freak snowstorm on the Wed and I might have been in trouble if I was being induced/waiting for induction! bronze
They wont even think about doing anything for her in the next two weeks unless theres a medical need. We may be sitting here for quite a bit longer
The Dogmother
*drums fingers* I was very lucky in having a section 2 weeks early - Rosie was a big baby for someone of my build, she was a footling breech and I was in lots of pain. Apparently, they worried about me rupturing if I laboured naturally and I'd never have got her out anyway.
