Jules.
The lady opens her kitchen cupboards & there are hens nesting in there. Just seen it.
buffie
I haven't but this is interesting. I did throw my hands up when I saw them in waitrose the other day Heinz in controversy over new Farmers' Market soup labels Earlier this month Farma urged shoppers to boycott the Heinz Farmers' Market soups Heinz is to make changes to the labels of its controversial new Farmers' Market soup after calls for a boycott of the range. The Wigan-based food giant will include a statement on the back of packs and in its TV advertising saying the products are made with quality ingredients "... from the UK and other countries". It will also put the phrase "inspired by farmers' markets" on the front of packs. But it will not drop the name Farmers' Market despite criticism from the National Farmers' Retail and Markets Association (Farma) which accused the company of misusing the term, saying the firm does not source local ingredients nor support local producers. Earlier this month Farma urged shoppers to boycott the Heinz Farmers' Market soups. Heinz officials met Farma representatives last week to discuss the issue. The company today insisted it had not misled shoppers – but said it would make a number of changes. Heinz will try to source key ingredients from producers based near to where the soup is made. It will also make changes to the Farmers' Market soup labels. Heinz spokesman Nigel Dickie said the firm had listened to Farma. He said: "Whilst we don't believe there was anything confusing or misleading about the labelling, we have listened to their views and will continue to work closely with them going forward." The Heinz Farmers' Market range was launched in the summer. Stroud MP David Drew had tabled an Early Day Motion to Parliament accusing Heinz of upsetting the farmers' market movement. BeckyBoo
you say that Clare, but then on this forum a lot of people, probably over 90% are interested in where their food comes from, how it is grown / reared and how it is harvested. Most of the general population just pick things off the shelves without a thought for what's in it, where it came from or how the people that grew it have been treated by the big companies, never mind any animal welfare issues. And if a great big, household name like Heinz tells them it's Farmers Market then they'll probably think, "Oh, that sounds like it's good for me" and they'll buy it. I know I spend most of my working life dealing with how shall I put it, the thick end of the wedge (?) but the public never ceases to amaze me in the way it allows itself to be led by the nose. Until something happens that is, Rant over, I sound like some complete arrogant idiot I know, last night at work last night and had to speak to several numb nuts who I wondered how they made it to adult hood without someone holding their hands. Sorry Mrs B
Guest
I confess now, I am one of the stupid ones that bought some A moment of weakness, too much work, too short lunchbreak and I wanted something hot and homemade It tasted so bad I had to throw it away, so I ended up going hungry Stick to the proper homemade or sarnies in future
Egluntyne
the products are made with quality ingredients "... from the UK and other countries". BBx Well that narrows it down doesn't it! It is just another big company jumping on the bandwagon of the latest popular movement and misleading the public. The Dogmother
Good for you Debs! MrsB, sounds like my mother - she buys roast chickens which have a label saying *** Farm on them - they're not freerange at all, but she reckons that they must be
Louise
Blimey Debs it must have been bad I work some bizzare hours and there are always a few tins of Heinz soup on the shelf in the tea room in case you have to stay late at short notice and whilst they are not the best food it is better than some

BeckyBoo
Don't get me wrong, we've got Heinz tomato soup in the cupboard, nothing else to touch it I reckon even if it is the colour of a post box and the consistency of runny wall paper paste. If OH has been ill that's what he wants when he's on the mend, I just wish the companies would be a bit more honest in their marketing. Heinz should call their latest offering "Looks in a bowl like it came from a Farmers Market but is actually just the same old GM, intensively farmed stuff bought internationally from underpaid farmers and their low paid child and women workers" Probably doesn't have the same marketing ring to it tho..... Mrs B (who's kitchen cupboards would not stand up to an inspection from any eco-aware people at ALL!!)
The Dogmother
Brilliant! But they'd never fit all that on a label!
Rhapsody
Whoo hoo Mrs B you're on fire!! Its misleading in the extreme and trading standards should step in -BTW, it made me very cross that the chickens were stuffed in a kitchen cupboard with the door shut on them.....I suppose you could say that was an unintentional piece of honesty
Helly Welly
I can't pass the stuff in the supermarket without going I do love the ad though, chickens in the cupboard and piglets running in through the cat flap. Not much more room than a batter hen, and bright lights too. They can't have realised what fools they were making of themselves.
