Boris70
Hi, What do you all use in the nest boxes? I normally use straw (as easy to grab when cleaning), but I've just run out - so may be up for trying something new?

jomaxsmith
I've tried shredded newspaper but the eggs had newsprint all over them I've gone back to hemcore for now, easier to get off the eggs and to scoop out any poop in the nestbox in the morning Jo

feemcg
I use straw, tried shredded paper recently (after having a 2 day shredding frenzy to clear out a stuck drawer ), but the chickens just ate it .
Boris70
I use Aubiose. Is it easy to clean out? Doesn't it end up down the holes?
jsbates65
i use a shredded paper I get at the pet store. . .so it doesn't have ink on it. It works great.
Egluntyne
I use Aubiose. Is it easy to clean out? Doesn't it end up down the holes? Very easy to clean out. It does go down the holes a bit, but I just poke about with a stick and it easily shifts. It is super absorbent and there are no probs with dampness or condensation so far. Christian
I line the nest box with a piece of kitchen roll first, then aubiose on top!
Ain't Nobody Here
Shredded paper (not newspaper) & hemcore. Mine don't eat the paper but have been known to pull the newspaper out of the poo tray to get at the small amount of bokashi bran that I put in there! nicki9
I used to use straw, I'm currently trying shredded paper, but the chickens seem to like eating it. Next weekend I'm trying aubiose - for the chickens, rabbits and hamster!
Tessa the Duchess
I use shredded paper, usually made up of old gas bills or all the junk mail that comes to this house I bought a shredder especially for the chickens' nesting box Tessa
