The Liverpool Saga

Recommended Posts

Hope you're pleased for me, I wanted to share my good news with you all.

Just got this message from the BBC. I wrote (and read out) verse 3 for anyone that's interested ;)

I also read out another of the verses further along in the poem.

"Hello there,

You will probably be interested to know that we are broadcasting the audio version of the Liverpool Saga on BBC Radio Merseyside next week.

We plan to broadcast diferent extracts thoughout our programming on Thursday and Friday 20th & 21st of December.

Then the Saga will be broadcast in two parts during Claire Hamilton's Boxing Day show from 6-9pm.

It will also be available to listen to (but sadly not to download due to wider BBC licence issues) on www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool

This represents another incarnation for the Saga but who knows where it will lead?

I hope you enjoy this version."

I can't wait to hear the finished version as I've not heard it in full yet. I believe they also went out into the streets of Liverpool and asked people to read a verse or two.

Guess where I'll be on Boxing Day! Who said video killed the radio star!!!

Tessa

only in my own lunchtime Tessa ;)

All of the poets involved are not to be credited as far as I know. However I'm proud to be part of history in the making. The poem will be etched onto a brass plaque and put in The Liverpool Museum as well. My words will remain long after I'm gone.

As I don't/can't have children, it's nice to know I'm leaving something behind, which will be read by thousands of people, pretty cool 8)

Poet you must be thrilled

I have seen adverts for this on TV

You will have to let us know when the plaque goes up and we can come and see it

We paid a visit to Liverpool a couple of years ago and we loved it, so it would be a good excuse to come again

Well done you :D

Thanks Debs.

I am thrilled beyond belief. When I heard Roger McGough read my bit out at the inaugural reading at St George's Hall, I nearly fell off me chair!

I plan to stand (or sit on a stool) next to the plaque and point at my verse! :D

I still need to write my chicken saga though! :?
