Guest
Well, I'm just thrilled it's the longest night. That sounds absolutely brilliant. Shame I've stayed up for half of it already
chickencam
It feels like the longest night But it does sound more positive than the shortest day
Helly Welly
Happy Winter solstice to you all. We celebrate Christmas as Yuletide in our house as we are all atheists. We'll be lighting a Yule log on 25th December to burn umtil 6th January. Yesterday we brought in lots of Bay and Ivy to decorate the house with. Whilst we are also not pagans we pick out traditions that we like in order to be able to celebrate along with everyone else.

All the Yuletide traditions were hijacked by the early church anyway.

I guess we do the same,as people who are not religious in any way but still enjoy the traditions of Christmas

Egluntyne
**Here**is a timetable of Winter Solstices. Interestingly it was at 6.08 am today. Normally it is on 21st. The actual Solstice is an exact event though, often confused with the shortest day, because it usually happens then.
chocchick
I like the idea of the days getting longer. I'm looking forward to my little baldy chickens laying again
