chelsea
I was SOOOOO looking forward to getting my Christmas food. After the build up of buying everyone's elses presents - our gift to ourselves is to buy some really nice food in M & S for the season. Get there and shelves empty , no desserts left (I wanted the white chocolate thing they advertise on the telly). It wasnt funny at the time but hubby said my face was a picture - I actually thought I was going to blub! An assistant overheard me moaning and said they were having another delivery at midnight, so we are going again today We did manage to get a free range turkey (there werent many) and all their turkey crowns had pork stuffing and all their normal stuffing had pork in it - no vegetarian stuffing at all. Cinnamon
I bought a turkey crown from there a couple of weeks ago,& its now in the freezer along with a couple of their garnish packs, which are gorgeous We LOVE M&S food at Christmas
Nicola H
I ordered all mine well in advance and have a set time today to pick it up...................Hope they haven't forgotton me.
Cinnamon
We used to do that Nicola, but the waiting in line to collect was a nightmare. And getting into reading a few days before Christmas was no fun either,so we went for the buy in advance & freeze option this time around It would be so much easier if they delivered, but you have to go in,in person to pay on the day still, which is mad

chelsea
We LOVE M&S food at Christmas [/color] We love it aswell, but we cant afford to go there for our weekly shop - thats why I SO look forward to it at Christmas. I was so disappointed yesterday, I was welling up I've just sent hubby off there again, M & S keep tempting me with their adverts and I couldnt face such heartache again today if there is no food there - so im staying home!!! Chicken Licken
My baby Bro (30+) does M and S supply chain - poor lad works like mad at this time of year getting deliveries co-ordinated from depot to store. He only has Christmas day and Boxing day off this year - so when you collect your yummy edible things think of how much he dislikes those TV Ads!! chelsea
and all their normal stuffing had pork in it - no vegetarian stuffing at all. pssst, Turkeys are made of meat I havent eaten any meat for 20 years (ie- pork/beef/lamb etc etc) I dont really eat poultry or fish (but I will eat a little turkey at Christmas) I just wish they'd put an ordinary sage/onion or chestnut stuffing in it. Even their seperate ready made stuffing was all pork based
Ain't Nobody Here
I was panicking about turkeys being sold out, so went to M&S on Thursday and bought a turkey crown (use by 26th so OK) and garnishes (now in freezer). OH got a Christmas bonus of £50 M&S vouchers . Didn't want to suffer the nightmare of the Christmas Eve pickup. Last year, 2 separate friends witnessed an actual catfight in M&S over a turkey. Two women were waiting to pick one up and there was only one left. It apparently got so bad they closed the store .

I've just gone and checked my turkey (it's in the fridge) - it's actually use by the 27th so it'll be fine for Christmas Day. I'm sure yours will be OK - they always err on the side of caution with use-by dates (especially M&S I would have thought).

Hubby's an ex-butcher - so he's going to de-bone the turkey and make it into a crown anyway

chelsea
UPDATE hubby has returned laden with buffet bits and nibbles but, without the white chocolate and cranberry cheesecake they are advertising on the telly he got a chocolate brownie thing....suppose that will do, but I love white chocolate! Not very impressed with the use by dates though - most of it runs out on the 27th/28th.

Popcorn
Mine earned his rest yesterday too after I went to Sainsbury's and lasted all of ten minutes before I actually DID burst into tears. It was like the last day on earth up there. I couldn't even get round with a hand basket, and when the third person wheeled a trolley into my 'bump' that was it. Tears, the works! I left and went home empty handed.

Popcorn
Oh dear. I like shopping at midnight at this time of year. I was telling a friend of mine how busy it was up there when he mentioned he was going, and he then re-arranged and went at midnight. Said it was empty and the shelves had all been re-stocked too. Snowy
Oh Gina, how horrible for you I hate shopping when it's crowded at the best of times. OH went to the farmers market at 8am yesterday morning to beat the crowd. The farmers hadn't even finished unloading the van! Just nipped round the co-op for a few last minute forgottens, now I am ensconced for 4 days and have no intention of moving from the house (unless it's for a tramp across the fields if the weather stays like this!)
