freerange
I've just found a great website, that has old maps of the UK, including one of where we live from 1847 - http://www.old-maps.co.uk The main road we live on was just fields. Linda
It's fascinating to think about what was going on in the same location years before you even existed!

Lesley
Excellent site! I found an aerial photo I was looking at over the weekend - I'll put it in 'The Good Life' Our house didn't exist until 1926 so it shows as a plot of land belonging to the Congregational Chapel. Cookie
Oooh - love this site - have just sent the link to loads of family and friends too. Thank you! Where I live in grimy inner East-End was a farm in 1887! And now the local pub has the same name as the farm did all those years ago. So interesting. Louise
Methinks someone has too much time on his hands now Looked for my house but the map didn't have it There was one 50 years later which it should be on but for some reason it won't load I will go back and look later

Cate in NZ
Appraisals Just survived my own, and then doing 2 of my colleagues appraisals in the past week. Exhausting, but we're all appreciated and still in employment which is good news; the lack of a payraise is not quite so good. I loved the website, I can probably have a great time typing in some old addresses and checking the areas out. My own address threw up no suprises, my whole area used to be a large woodland, but in the 50's they started eroding away at it with new building and a naturist holiday camp, and now we just have a small (but perfectly formed ) woodland left, with quite a lot of housing around it. Dan, I used to live across the road from Bank's in Wolverhampton, with the park behind, and the ring road just at the top of the road. Fun days in Chapel Ash, back in the early 80's. It'll have changed a bit since I was last there I'm sure. Not that I have any desire to go back and see
