BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
can chickens eat cheese - i thought i'd ask as i am clearing out the fridge and want to get rid of some cheese. so rather than just chucking it in the bin i would ask if it would be allright. this morning they've had a real treat. layers pellets left over rice crispies (which went down really well) left over mashed pots peas sweetcorn carrots from last nights dinner. Tessa the Duchess
I've avoided feeding mine cheese because of the fat content Tessa

Snowy
I'd heard they were lactose intolerant, but we are advised to give them live yoghurt when poorly If I have leftovers with a bit of milk on, ie the boys cereal or porridge, they get it. The same with leftover cheese. Only in very small amounts I hasten to add. They do enjoy it!
Laura & CTB
Mine occasionally get the s"Ooops, word censored!"ings from the cheese grater.

Janty
I hadn't heard that hens were lactose intolerant. On perfect pekins it gives a recipe for layers mash that includes some milk. My girls love it.
