El Jefe
Henrietta Maria (Charles I wife) Could this be a name for a future hen? So sorry to hear your news - but pleased that Lottie has bought some happiness - sounds like she is really living it up in her new home

The Dogmother
Kate, that's such sad news. I'm sat here at work with tears in my eyes Buffie's lovely comment is spot on, she's still there with you in spirit and you did everything that you could. It's just natural to rake back over stuff to see if you could have done better, but you did your absolute best. Lottie sounds a real treat
Cate in NZ
I thought I'd just revive this with a very quick update on Lottie. We were busy in the garden this afternoon, when, totally unexpectedly Tracy & her family dropped by (they were passing en route to somewhere else and couldn't resist the opportunity to catch up with Lottie). Well, I'd have said that Lottie was totally assimilated as part of our flock, but the minute that Tracy and her daughters appeared Lottie ran up to greet them, straight away. The others followed, pretty quickly, but Lottie was like lightening. She really must have recognised them It was lovely They all had a hug, and then Lottie went back to wrecking my garden with her friends, but it was incredible the way she seemed to remember them. Not such a bird brain then

Guest
So they really do remember then - that definitely answers the question on another topic - will my chickens remember be when I come back from holiday - or words of a similar vein. That is good news
