Hotels in York or Oxford - Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hello

Me again  still planning the holiday so will update you when I've decided where to go BUT in the meantime... I'm going away for a weekend with a friend at the end of the month and we are thinking of either York or Oxford. Has anyone stayed there who can recommend a nice hotel?

Thanks x

Hi JooJoo

if you don't mind being out of the city centre Aldwark Manor (York) is a fab hotel with a super spa as well. It is a about 20 minds from the centre but the park and ride is available too.

Oxford has a couple of nice ones that we have used - the Malmaison and the Old Bank always get good reports from our clients.

AMO

This is a nice hotel I have never stayed only eaten and drunk there

It is in Iffley Village which is just gorgeous

This link gives you all the hotels in the various price bands so you should find something to suit :?

Doesn't have B&B's though there are some nice ones but be very careful there are some awful ones the Nanford came out as the worst B&B in the country in some TV programme about 5 years ago

The dean court hotel York is right near the Minster...but parking may be a problem if your going by car.

Otherwise if your wanting something a little less extravagant there are loads of hotels on the outskirts of the city.

Take a look at The Blue Bridge Hotel Fulford [within walking distance to the centre.] Or Novotel in Fulford ...cheap and cheerful but clean and ideally located for all the attractions.

I had a look at this one earlier and they have got special offer on for Jan & Feb of 25% off. Looked very nice. Thanks for all the suggestions - I'll have a look at them all in a bit after tea
