Chuckyegg
Hi Having very sandy soil we have very few earthworms and my girlies go MAD for them (I know - not too many). Has anyone tried breeding earthworms or mealworms for their hens? Thanks

ajm200
Hi Claire You could try a wormery. We bought ours from http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk but some local councils offer them free or at a significant discount to local residents. We've had one for the last couple of years to compost down all the kitchen s"Ooops, word censored!"s. Ours is always full of worms and they multiply like crazy given sufficient s"Ooops, word censored!"s (assuming that your chickens don't eat all old veggies and peelings of course ). Also as long as we bury all the waste well in the worms bedding, it doesn't really smell or attract flies. Another plus point is you get liquid fertilizer for your plants (if you still have any ) Amanda
Janty
Wiggly wigglers sell mealworm breeding kits for about £8. Weare going to start ours this weekend.
