Breeding Worms

Recommended Posts

Hi Claire

You could try a wormery. We bought ours from http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk but some local councils offer them free or at a significant discount to local residents.

We've had one for the last couple of years to compost down all the kitchen s"Ooops, word censored!"s. Ours is always full of worms and they multiply like crazy given sufficient s"Ooops, word censored!"s (assuming that your chickens don't eat all old veggies and peelings of course :) ).

Also as long as we bury all the waste well in the worms bedding, it doesn't really smell or attract flies. Another plus point is you get liquid fertilizer for your plants (if you still have any :) )
