Couperwife
Oh, ive just caught up with this thread, you sound like you are having a rubbish time, I cnt think of much worse than not being able to sleep and knowing that you wont be able to sleep . just a thought, do you need a new mattress? could you try sleeping on the other side of the bed, or a different bed? cos if you have a spring or something that has moved it could be causing you problems. (you've probably thought about this already though) hope tonight gets easier and you are feeling better. cathy x
Sheilaz
I'm sorry to hear you're now unwell Sheila. I hope you're better soon and that it's not connected to your rib pain. I'm wondering if the pain will return while you're lying down today. If it does, please go back to your GP on Monday!xx Hello again everyone! Well, I'm just returning from flu, so no, I didn't return to the doctor's. However, I'm sure that I only went down with flu becaused I was completely wrecked from the pain & lack of sleep. Now I am better from the virus, and I'm sleeping quite well, very well, all the time, and the agony hasn't returned. But, there is again a low level ache in the ribs most of the time, quite uncomfortable when I've been lying down. It's not the extreme pain waking me now, but then I'm sleeping half propped up. So, still don't know what it is, but seem to know more than the doctor so hesitant to go there again.
Sheilaz
So, here we are 5 years later. Last month I had an acute episode and (most likely) passed a kidney stone. Upon 2nd test same day (different hospitals) an infection was diagnosed too (missed first time).¡ Being wracked with pain I remembered this topic, and now think that the rib pain I described was a stone moving and the subsequent fever an infection. The GP had dismissed kidneys then and but I should have listened to Omleteers and had a 2nd opinion. Re reading the thread just now it sounds exactly like the kidney area! I now believe that various other symptoms over the years have been misdiagnosed. In addition, 2 months ago I was told the increasingly intolerable pain in my fingers and pelvis was osteo arthritis. All those pains went within a couple of hours of passing the stone! Amazing. Thought I'd just update this for the record, it's all a bit odd. Purplemaniacs
Good morning Sheilaz. Funny you should post I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago and wondering how you were and that I had not seen a post from you recently. Wow how strange is that. Glad you are feeling better. Are you able to sleep laying down now? Chrissie
bluekarin
I am glad you have finally found out what was causing the pain. Shame your GP wasn't really helpful When I started reading the topic I was going to suggest your mattress as I had really bad rib pain in the morning and discovered it was our rubbish mattress. Bought a new one and pain all gone My pain was more of a squashed feeling like my ribs had been compressed.
Patricia W
That's so interesting. I've just spoken to a friend who has had similar symptoms to you and just been diagnosed with gall stones. I'll get her to ask about kidney stones also. I'm glad you're feeling better though.
The Dogmother
Hey Sheila, good to hear from you, and with positive news too so good to hear that you're orted. Had completely forgotten about this thread, but I had something similar a couple of years ago; I suffer on and off with a bad back (long history) so visit my osteopath for quarterly maintenance treatments. He advised to see the GP with this one as something 'wasn't right', turned out that I had a small amount of kidney gravel which has now passed.
