Memorabilia

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, we thought you might like something to commemorate the forum going over 1000 people. My mother is a teacher and every year they do these great tea towells with a self portrait of all of the children on, so...we thought lets do the same. The idea is we will send the first person a big piece of paper and they can draw themselves on it, they then send it to the next person until the page is full and we will then have it printed on to a tea towell. Who wants to be the first!?

Lovely idea! Will we get 1000 pictures?

Perhaps it would be quicker if we all posted a picture (of a certain size) to Omlet?

I thought that too. The paper may get crumpled , and would have to be folded if it was really big. Wouldn't the folds show?

I would do a portrait, but didn't want to be first

I would be tempted to add chickens to it, or do a chicken version

excellent, you could send us in pictures instead of sending something round if that's easier but I thought it would be more interesteing to build up the picture as a single piece of art - ladies sharpen those pencils, unfold your eisels and pull on your smocks!

we will roll the picture and send it in a tube, that way it shouldn't get crumpled. I think the exact nature of the self portrait is up to you, it should reflect your character so if that includes a chicken on each shoulder then that's fine.

I was just thinking that myself - using a tube. A much better idea to keep it the image whole I think. It will be the genuine thing then.

If we email our addresses to you can you compile a list to include with the drawing so we have a list of who to post on to?

As long as there is a list somewhere, then each person can just PM the next to ask for their address?. I think that is how the book was passed around?

I can't draw either - don't know why I volunteered first :? I can manage a blob though

Right, I've just had a brainwave. Anyone who wants to be included should draw their portrait in the space on the left hand side of a postcard, and then send it to us. That way all the images will be about the same size and it will be quicker and we won't run out of space on the paper and it won't get crumpled and so on. Does that sound good? Let's get started! I think the Omlet team will contribute a picture each as well (naturally Simon will do one of his bum as that seems to be his most recognisable feature)

I can't draw to save my life

I have the artistic ability of a slug

In fact the last thing I tried to draw in 2002 is still being laughed about at work now

I could do a stick man

Would look nothing like me though

What was it you drew, that got such a reaction

Stick woman surely :?

thank you, looking forward to receiving the postcards and don't forget that a first class stamp allows you to send up to 60gramms so you can make up the weight with a piece of cake
