WitchHazel
Is it ok to offer them to chickens? I'vce already put some in today's swingball, can't see whether they've been eaten or rejected yet. Then I suddenly wondered if thet were OK for chooks? Anyone know?
superjules
Other people feed them to their chooks, they're ok for them to eat, but they are one of very few foods which my chooks aren't keen on.

Ain't Nobody Here
I give them the end slices of tomatoes I've used for us chopped into tiny bits and they love them. I've never tried a whole tomato .

Laura & CTB
I throw a whole one out for them - they love beaking out all the seeds then taking turns to carry it around the garden before pecking another bit off until it's gone.

Olly
Mine go mad for cherry tomatoes. I grew a lot last year, and unfortunately quite a few failed as they weren't watered for a couple of weeks while I was on holiday. I used to stand at the greenhouse door picking off the split ones and throwing them to see the fun - the first one to get it will snatch it up and rush off to a private corner. Egluntyne
Mine love 'em.....chopped.
WitchHazel
Wow, i'm so glad I asked! I convinced myself that they wouldn't eat them, and it's great to hear that I'm wrong. We always have a glut of tomatoes, despite preserving them and making passata to last us a whole year! Thanks again everyone
Tara.F
we have the wacky races here with tomatoes you lob one up the garden and watch the stampede! word of warning though....never let your chooks see where you grow your tomatoes, or there'll be no more passata for you! Eyren
Mine kept nicking the cherry tomatoes off the vine last summer - and it wasn't as if I had many to begin with, thanks to the weather
