argent13uk
Hello I was washing the glug out this afternoon and I noticed this pitting around the rim. is this normal wear and tear? http://pets.webshots.com/photo/2792192070032074134yIZJHJ Cheers Tiffany
Sarah B
Hi Tiffany, Have you only had them recently? I've had my pink eglu since the 28th Feb this year and I don't have any pitting or marking on mine at all. If it is a fairly recent delivery I would phone Omlet and ask for a replacement. Sarah B
Mine do have little black spots...but not as obvious as that. The come up a treat in the dishwasher! I thought about putting mine in the dishwasher but was worried re the detergents? As you do yours in it I will give it a go!

Olly
That looks extreme - mine are a little bit pitted, but not like that. The Eglu may not fit in the dishwasher ... but a steam cleaner brings it up like new! I've been cleaning my purple one as it's going to a new owner on Saturday, and a quick steam and a scrub has worked wonders on the poo tray and the nesting box. DW
The glug that came with my eglu was pitted, like yours - but worse! There were actually small holes in the side of it, so it leaked..... I rang Omlet and they sent me out a new one the next day. D.

BarbaraJ
Surely if you rinsed it , it would be fine? If its ok for us then for them rinsed too i'd feel it was ok. Cat bowls go in there, is there a particular reason not to put grubs in there?
Sarah B
Yep all my cat bowls go in and bless em they are ok fingers crossed, maybe I have been over cautious as I know nowt about chooks and detergent and there is so much mention of E products? superjules
My glug and grub are 18months old and don't look like that. I'd ask for a replacement, that looks like it could harbour all sorts of germs and nasties. As for the dishwasher, if it fits in - that's how it gets washed! The chooks rubbery food ball thingie went in yesterday, came up a treat!

Mine leaks as well, but the chap who delivered seemed to suggest this was normal pitting, I might give them a call now, as all the pellets get wet, when it rains! Is this not meant to happen? Hen Watch
Mine are pitted but only just now after 11 months of use. They don't leak.
Ain't Nobody Here
all the pellets get wet, when it rains! Is this not meant to happen? No . Mine's as dry as a bone (I do have a cover on the run but I'm sure it was dry even when I didn't ). There shouldn't be leaks, surely . clive
Sounds like a manufacturing problem with pitting if DW's glug was new and they sent out a new one, But also it may be if your water is hard this may affect the plastistic in the faulty areas (sub standard materials). Sorry for the logical aproche but thats years of sorting out this sort of problem. Hope i have not brananded my self as a boring old s!!!.
