Guest
Anyone got any guidance on what the sizing is like in Monsoon? I'm still losing weight and buying nearly everything secondhand but I've been having trouble finding a little jacket to wear over an evening dress - can't possibly go without as my arms are HIDEOUS! I was looking for something with drapey sleeves and I saw this on the Monsoon site. http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/22343825 It's me to say the least! it also has the perfect sleeves to wear over a sleeveless dress I'm getting for a party Saturday week. Trouble is atm I'm a 16 to 18 in a jacket (which has to go round the arms which are still big) although I've got a size 12 jacket which is fine on the arms (but still too small round the middle!) and a size 14 jacket that is a good fit and being worn loads. Being such a plus size for a long time I'm not experienced with so many brands, Monsoon included so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts - if I bought it in a 14 is it likely to fit? When I finish dieting I hope to be a 12 to 14. I tried one store and they didn't have any but I can order it online. I want to look really good for this party - a lot of my friends I grew up with will be there and the last time I saw them was October - There should be 9 stone less of me by Saturday week! hillfamily
You are doing so well Pengy - Well Done I have always personally found Monsoon sizes to be generous so you may well get away with a smaller size
Keanie Bean
Wow Penguinmad, 9 stone less . Thats fantastic well done, however have you managed to do that. I've got a few to loose myself. Monsoon sizing is really really small , but the jacket looks like it will be quite loose fitting anyway. If you are only just a 14 then go for the 16 but if you fit into most 14's then it might be ok. Its a tough one! I'd tend to opt for bigger, have you got a pashmina if you order it and it really is too small. They are always good for hiding the upper arms. Good Luck choosing, its a beautiful colour, and have fun Saturday. Sarah.x
Snowy
Gorgeous top Pengy 9 stone - my goodness, that's amazing, very, very well done! I say order three in different sizes and return the ones you don't want - they don't look too heavy to return by post!
Cinnamon
I think that with a top like that ,the place where a bad fit will be obviouse is over the shoulders. It has a tie front to cinch it in & the sleeves are flowing anyhow. I reckon a 14 should be fine, but it would depend on your body shape - are you broad shouldered or slighter in build? Helen&Lee
Snowy might have the right idea as I find Monsoon fairly generous in sizing Well done on your weight loss its a fabulous acheivement Helen
Aunty e
Monsoon is tricky - they used to be totally mad, and everything was at least a size bigger than it said it was. I was a twelve and always always had to buy in a ten BUT in the last year or so, it's much more realistic. My last two purchases have been in a 12, which I actually am. I think a 14 would be your best bet.
missuscluck
I would agree with snowy. In my experiance the sizes are generous. Well done with the continued weight loss pengy!
chickenanne
It's ages since have bought anything from Monsoon, and in the past I always found the sizes pretty generous. Could you order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit? That way you'd avoid a last minute panic. Congratulations on teh weight loss, that's really really impressive. I bet your freinds will be gobsmacked when they see the "new" you!
Guest
Thanks all - I think I will order both sizes - their P&P is pretty hefty (for something like that which weighs nothing!) but of course it would only be one lot for 2 items then I could make a decision. The weight loss was the easy bit - the terrifying part comes next - I have to start eating again AND keep the weight off! I'm a lot more active nowdays than I used to be but not doing enough in the way of exercise so thats something I'll need to try and step up - why are their not 25 hours in EVERY day. (If I do enough transatlantic crossings in one direction I'll have a lot of 25 hour days!)
Guest
Oh another question - does anyone know if you buy online can you return to a store? Would save on postage! Yes I've ordered both now!
freddie
You nhave worked so hard to lose all that!! Congratulations, I have only admiration for yr willpower!! Good on you! Monsoon dresses are cut fairly tightly if compared to M+S, but a tiny bit looser round the bust than Next, at least the last ones I tried on were(it was a while ago!) Tessa the Duchess
Oh another question - does anyone know if you buy online can you return to a store? Would save on postage! You can with M&S but have no idea if Monsoon do it. Tessa
Shirl
Yes you can return the unwanted one to the store. Well done on losing the weight. I'm quite envious as I have 1 1/2 stone of baby weight still to lose and she's a year old now

Basset
Well done on your amazing weight loss, Pengy. I'll just add that I've also always found Monsoon sizes to be generous and I've also returned internet purchases to the store before. Karen & co.
Don't worry Sarah, I thought they seemed skimpy too, or rather hoped they were Karen x
