buffie
Oh they were featured heavily in a recently. Mikey insists on calling our Buff Pekin a Buff Orpington I said he'll look daft at the june get together if he tells anyone that They are big and beautiful and placid (some would say lazy) but that's all I know. There was some talk of size of eglu to keep Buffs but hopefully you can check that out. Hope it helps Martin BBx
Martin B
Thanks. I saw the artical in and that was what inspired me to ask! Thanks Buffie!
Guest
Martin, we enquired about gettin an Orpington after Amber died, but the breeder warned us that they are highly tempramental, and are prone to killing themselves after re-homing. They will 'offer themselves' to any cats or dogs in the area, or drown themselves apparantly. Also, having seen them when we went to pick up Hillary and Nerys, I'm not convinced you could get one into an eglu!!

Trish
The only one's I've seen were at a breeders and you'd never have got those throug the Eglu door. They may not all be that size but these bird were huge!
Guest
They are beautiful, and I would still love one! They do have the most enormous legs and feet, though, which kind of put me off a bit. Think ankles like tree trunks!!!!!!
Martin B
Oh, I bet they are gentle giants!
motherhen
I believe there are 2 living in an eglu in France. Francine Raymond, a hen lover who knows loads about hens and has written some lovely books, keeps Buff Orpingtons. It sounds like they are gorgeous, like giant teddy bears, but perhaps not a hen for beginners
