druids57
Hi I know this forum talks mainly about fruit and veg but I do love roses as well mingled in. I have a bark screen fence and would love a rose to clamber over it to strengthen it and to add some beauty. It needs to look old fashioned ie single flowers, has to smell divine , have hips for birds and wildlife in autumn, and grow very quickly. Have been tempted by Mermaid and Bridge of Sighs has anyone got either of these or any recommends Thanks a million Druid
Karen & co.
I bought a friend Wedding Day, strangely enough when she got married and it has grown really quickly, it's a creamy peach/pink flower, and smells divine She likes it too Karen x
Charlottechicken
David Austin Roses www.davidaustinroses.com do loads of roses and categorise them all so you can whittle down to a few. Send off for their brochure and you will be lost in it for hours! I bought Snow Goose from them years ago but it is not what you are looking for as it is a small white feathery looking flower (from a pale pink bud), not much smell but very showy. I have a 'Blue Moon' climber bought for a pound (Woollies I think) about 8 years ago and that has lovely lilac blooms and a traditional beautiful rose smell. Christian
I bought a friend Wedding Day, My Mum has that one (could be called Wedding bells though - not sure) but masses of blooms and grows very quickly. More of a rambling rose than a climber?
Snowy
If you can find Zepherine Drouhin, it is highly recommended - a deep pink, bourbon rose, thornless, very highly scented, a beautiful rose!
Mrs Frugal
I'll second that one, Snowy. It's a gorgeous rose and as it's thornless, that is a major benefit when it comes to pruning .

chickencam
We used to have one called Albertine which is pale pink and most beautiful scented rose I have come accross, the smell on a warm early summer evening is heavenly. It is not a single flower though. We also have a pale creamy yellow rambler in out beech hedge but I don't know what it is called but it flowers very early just as the beech leaves are coming out, it has a single flower, and we just cut it each year with the hedge which keeps it under control and gives us loads of flowers, but only for a short flowering season.
